Axis 4 - Determinism and epidemiological consequences of sexual reproduction in Z. tritici

Our objective in Axis 4 is to understand the determinism and epidemiological consequences of sexual reproduction in Z. tritici on crop residues: survival of inoculum, impact on adaptive dynamics of pathogenic populations, and ecological interactions with associated communities.

4.1. Characterize different scenarios of in planta sexual reproduction (living tissues, dead tissues) and their determinants, considering the adaptation between the host and the pathogen (R-AVR interaction).

4.2. Estimate the impact of different scenarios of sexual reproduction on crop residues under various types of canopy, including varietal mixtures.

4.3. Characterize specific ecological interactions and their potential applications in bioregulation: with fungal microbiota in different matrices (collaboration with the EPLM team) and other organisms (consumption of inoculum by springtails).
